If there were some ability regen baked into the aspects (RIP HOTP), it could give void hunters an actual core ability loop (that doesn’t require seasonal mods) and probably go a long way toward making the void 3.0 hunter feel as well-thought-out and complete as void warlocks and titans do. They pretty much only truly specialize at invisibility and tether. I agree with OP that hunters aren’t really all that especially good at applying weaken. It’s all in their aspects already, and the fragments tend to synergize better with their kits than the hunter’s. #Void hunters ship bad language modsVoid 3.0 warlocks and titans don’t need to mess around with mods to get a fun, powerful, self-perpetuating loop of abilities going. I think people miss the point that while you CAN invest into some good builds as a void 3.0 hunter using well and seasonal mods, the subclass has like absolutely no synergy “out of the box”. I'm not sure what can be done about this as I don't want warlocks to get nerfed, and they can't just remove echo of undermining, but it needed to be brought to attention. Warlocks are arguably better weaken users than hunter, with the insane power of child of the old gods and having more methods of increasing grenade uptime for echo of undermining. Hunter exclusive sources of weaken have low uptime, and/or come with drawbacks. Hunters numerically have more sources of weaken than other classes, but they are not the weaken specialists they were supposedly intended to be. #Void hunters ship bad language freeDivinity is a special weapon giving it a much larger uptime than shadowshot, on top of the free crit sphere. Both of these debuff enemies by 30%, the same as shadowshot. The role of the hunter as a weaken specialist is completely gone at this point.ĭivinity and Tractor Cannon - While they don't technically apply a void weaken debuff, they still debuff enemies. This penalty may as well not exist, as regenerating grenade energy through other sources is very easy, e.g. With just a single aspect, warlocks, who are not supposed to be weaken specialists, have a better weaken-based ability loop than hunters.Įcho of Undermining - With one singular fragment, all three classes get incredibly easy access to weaken for only a -20 discipline penalty. On top of this, warlocks are granted class ability regeneration and either grenade+melee regeneration or healing, as well as their standard rift effect. Child also deals more damage than the smoke bomb. Now let's look at the other sources of weaken.Ĭhild of the Old Gods- Just for casting their class ability, warlocks get to weaken enemies in a much larger radius than the smoke bomb. Judging from this, we can assume weaken is meant to be sparingly used due to its strong effect, with hunters being the best users of it. A single time use of weaken under a specific circumstance. While under void invisibility, meleeing an enemy will weaken them. Stylish Executioner - The one aspect that grants a new source of weaken. #Void hunters ship bad language fullAdditionally, unless you're using gambler's dodge, you have to wait the full fairly lengthy melee cooldown. Smoke Bomb - The offensive use for this ability is to apply weaken in a small aoe, with the tradeoff being that the smoke itself does very little damage. However it is your super, so is used sparingly. It applies a stronger void weaken effect than all the others. Shadowshot feels great now, and was absolutely the best part of void 3.0 for hunter. Let's look at the hunter exclusive sources of weaken. Too bad invisibility is fairly niche (two uses - running away and rez bot) and not particularly fun to use. They certainly got the invisibility part down, considering that's what all three of the aspects revolve around. According to Bungie, Hunters are supposed to be specialists in invisibility, and weaken.
